English
We are finishing off our class reader "Alien In The Jam Factory", before moving on to another great story (linked to our history topic) called "The Time-Travelling Cat & The Egyptian Goddess"
For the first few weeks of the summer, Mrs Dickens will be sharing some topic-themed texts, such as "An Egyptian Cinderella".
After this, we'll continue looking at a range of different text types, and linking them where possible with the work we are doing in history, geography or even science.
Similarly, we will be focusing on writing a variety ot texts, making our sentences cohesive and consolidating our punctuation and grammar.

Maths
This summer term in mathematics, we will begin with a journey into fractions. We'll look at how to represent them, introduce terms such as equivalent, numerator and denominator. Following this, we'll begin to look at how to read the time, and how to solve problems involving time. Next is a great little topic about the properties of shape, such as faces / edges / vertices and more. We'll finish off with a look at 'Mass & Capacity', while filling any gaps from the spring term such as statistical work.
Mathematician

Theon of Alexandria
Science
In science, we will be completing our topic on light and moving into investigating the world of plants and plant growth.
One of the scientists we will have looked at is inventor A J Wilson, who is believed to have invented the wing-mirror, following scientific investigations into which type of mirror was the most effective and best at keeping road users safe.
Finally, we will be mopping up any uncovered scientific work from throughout year 3 that we might not have had time to cover, and having special activities based around STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.) We'll make sure to make good use of the school STEM Den too, and get some outdoor science done wherever possible!

Topic
What an awesome topic in the summer term - The Ancient Egyptians!
As historians (and with some geographical skill thrown in) we'll uncover what life was like in Ancient Egypt and make comparisons with our own lives, and other historical periods we have studied previously.
There are so many fascinating things to discover about Ancient Egypt and the people who lived there, and you can make a start using our "DK Find Out" button at the top of this page.
