In English we will be linking our writing to our class text which is The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch by Rhonda and David Armitage.

We will be reading about Mr Grinling the lighthouse keeper and how he stopped the scavenging seagulls from stealing his lunch!
In maths we are making sure we understand the following concepts in readiness for Year 2:
Count to 100
Count in 10s (number names)
Know that larger numbers are further along the number track
Know where numbers ending in 1, 5 and 9 lie on a number track
Be familiar with number lines that go up in 2s, 5s and 10s as well as 1s
Doubles to 10
Partition and combine numbers within 10
Share items fairly (equal groups)
Know when it is not far (unequal groups)
Know th e cardinal value of number words eg. "4" (they give you 4 items)
Show me (on fingers) numbers to 10. This will support 5+? Number facts
Talk about common 2d and 3d shapes (in different orientations)
Rotate shapes for a purpose (eg a jigsaw or to post through a box).
Our topic is all about the seaside. We will be looking at manmade and natural features of the seaside as well as learning about what a trip to the seaside was like in Victorian times.
In Science we will be learning all about animals including humans. We will learn about animal babies and be naming parts of the body. We will learn about our senses and how we use them.
We will also be thinking about how the seasons have changed now that it is Summer.
