YEAR 2

Mrs Li

English

This term we will be continuing to explore Dragons. Our new class text is

The Trouble with Dragons

This is a beautiful, thought-provoking book that addresses concerns about the environment in a delightful way. The dragons who populate the Earth pollute the oceans, chop down the trees and gobble up all the food. Can they wake up to what they are doing before it's too late?

Maths

In our daily basic skills and fluency sessions we will continue to develop our recall of number facts and times tables. We will also regularly use analogue clocks and practise calculation strategies.
In our main maths sessions we will be focusing fractions, statistics and measures.

Topic

For the rest of the Summer term we will be continuing with our topic
Castles and Dragons!
We will be: using clay and recycled materials to build dragon sculptures, using our knowledge of measures to concoct potions to tame our troublesome dragons, conducting experiments to investigate how the dragons actions are damaging the planet and studying maps to explore how Earth has changed over time as a result of deforestation, melting ice caps and population growth.
