English

This term we will be delving into the past to explore What the Victorians did for us. Our new class text is

This is a charming picture book written by the wonderful author Shirley Hughes. It tells the story of Daisy Dobbs - A Victorian scullery maid working in a grand house in London. One day disaster strikes! Can Daisy help before it's too late?

Maths

For this half of the Autumn Term we will be focusing on number and place value, then addition and subtraction. As well as our main daily maths session, we will have a 20 minute basic skill session each day which will focus on step counting, number pairs and times table facts. Later in the day, we have another 20 minute session where we practise this learning through games to build fluency. The learning in these sessions will be continued at home through the weekly maths homework focus and TTRS.

Topic

For the duration of the Autumn term we will be detectives of the past trying to investigate
What the Victorians did for us!
We will be finding out about the Wright Brothers. In our STEM projects we'll explore how rubber band helicopters inspired their flying inventions, and as geographers we will map out the flights across the world that Amelia Earhart took.
